A woman in white tulle lies back on the prow of a black ghost ship, one hand raised toward a glowing lantern, fish skeletons and blue cobwebs drifting around her.

Step into the story

Concept Photography

Think bigger than a portrait. Bring us a world, and we'll build it and put you in the scene.

A whole world in one frame

Concept photography starts with the world, not the pose. A ghost ship, a drowned street, an astronaut planting a flag on the seafloor: we build or find the place, then drop the character into the scene, so the picture reads like a still from a film that doesn’t exist.

It’s the moment people stop when they see one: you, inside a story, with the whole world hanging in the water around you. Fabric, light, set and character, every piece caught at once.

A woman in a white storm-trooper costume and white boots holds a helmet at her side as she floats upright in a burst of red and violet bubbles on black water.

A figure with curved horns and a black cape holds a glowing orb inside a shipwreck, an opening in the rusted hull lit blue behind.

A woman with a pink powdered wig and a floral organza gown sips tea from a porcelain cup and saucer on a coral reef, sunbeams falling through blue water behind her.

A woman in a magenta coat sits on the hood of a red car with its headlights blazing, in a drowned brick street set, a glass pane and dark water behind her.

From fairy tale to nightmare, and everything in between

Princesses with parasols, villains with glowing orbs, witches, pirates, a clown in a storm of red balloons. Some are sweet, some are sinister, and a few are both at once. Water gives all of them the same gift: the story lifts off the ground and floats, so the fairy tale feels softer and the nightmare feels closer.

A woman in a blue gingham dress and red shoes drifts down the side of an encrusted wreck, blue water behind her.

Bring the idea

No idea is too big for the pool. We build the world around the idea, with backdrops, props, entire rooms, and a real wreck or spring when the story demands one. Tell us the story, and we’ll tell you what it takes to put you in the picture.

A woman with lavender hair rests behind a flower-covered garden bridge, a teal tail curled beside her, the scene mirrored in dark water below. A bride in a white lace gown with a long veil floating above her stands against a dark wreck, a blue and white train drifting beside her.

A man in a white spacesuit stands with his feet apart on black sand, holding a flag on a pole, sunbeams in the blue water behind him.

Plan it

Get in touch to book a consultation. We get to know you and your project, then plan the session with you down to the creative details, including the best time and place to shoot, anywhere in the world.

Shoot it

Our goal is to transform you into a stunning work of art, and to make the day itself fun, collaborative and safe, so you can be at your best. You should leave having created images that make you feel great about yourself and about what you can accomplish.

Deliver it

We share previews of every image captured during your session. You pick your favorites, and every one you choose goes through our creative editing process.

  • The water is warm The pool is heated to 90°F, so you’re comfortable from the first frame to the last.
  • Coached on the day Justin and Abbey are both in the water with you. Abbey coaches your breath-hold and your posing, and Justin talks you through every frame.
  • A few seconds underwater A frame takes one short breath-hold, and you rest at the surface in between.

After the shoot

Your digital gallery

Your private proofing gallery goes up within a week of the session, and the finished images follow four to six weeks after you’ve made your selections.

Art for your wall

We believe every image is a piece of art, one-of-a-kind and made to hang proudly on your wall. They hold up at gallery size because the frames were shot and finished for it, on canvas, on metal, or framed behind glass. Tell us where you want to show your work, and we’ll work out which printing options fit it. We can also show you what a piece will look like in your own space before you order.

Safety

We’ve been water people our whole lives, so safety gets planned before the pictures do.

Abbey and Justin are both certified lifeguards. Justin shoots, and he’s been photographing underwater for over a decade; he’s also a PADI Dive Instructor. Abbey coaches, in the water beside you the whole time: how to go down, how to make it look easy, when to come up. She’s a PADI Mermaid Instructor and an experienced freediver who spent years teaching children to swim.

Everything runs at your pace. You go down when you’re ready, you come up when you want to, and you rest at the surface as long as you like in between.

Extras for your session

We book a professional artist for you on request, one who works in waterproof makeup and hair that holds up underwater.
