Does It Hurt to Open Your Eyes Underwater?

Your eyes are open for most frames, and the water is kept gentle for exactly that.

Generally, no. In our pool studio we maintain the water chemistry meticulously to keep it gentle on the eyes, and your eyes will be open for most frames.

Why is the water easy on the eyes?

Chlorine is what stings in many pools, which is why the chemistry in our studio is watched so closely. On location, natural water is gentler still: ocean saltwater is natural to the eye, and spring water is fresh and clean, so neither stings the way chlorine can.

Can I wear contact lenses?

Yes. Contact lenses are fine to wear, and daily disposables are the easiest. We suggest eye drops before and after your session.

How do I look relaxed with my eyes open?

A soft expression is what makes a frame look serene, and we guide you on how to relax your face so you look comfortable. If you have a pool you can use, practise opening your eyes and softening your face underwater before the day.

How do I get ready?
